Carmel Valley

The sunny and rural sister to Carmel-by-the-Sea. A place to plant a garden, leisurely sip wine or tend to your horses. Carmel Valley gives you room to breathe.

Welcome to Carmel Valley, a picturesque rural community located just a few minutes away from the charming coastal town of Carmel-by-the-Sea in California. Known for its warm weather in the summer months, large parcels of land, equestrian activities, golf courses, wineries, and laid-back way of life, Carmel Valley is a perfect location for those who want to enjoy a laid back lifestyle while being just minutes away from world-class amenities; everything from Tiffany & Company and Kate Spade to Michelin star restaurant Aubergine.

Golf is as big a fixture in Carmel Valley as much as it is in Pebble Beach. One of the most exclusive golf communities in Carmel Valley is Tehama Golf Club, founded by Clint Eastwood. This exclusive golf community comprised of large luxury estates on parcels of land features a championship golf course, clubhouse, and stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys.

The most exclusive luxury lifestyle community for those who want to get away from it all while having every amenity at their fingertips is the Santa Lucia Preserve. Formerly the Oppenheimer family’s private hunting ranch, the 22,000 acre Santa Lucia Preserve was transitioned into a highly sought-after gated community that offers a championship golf course with clubhouse, equestrian facilities and trails, private lake, hiking, and biking trails, a Hacienda operating as the centerpiece of all activities and offering a bar and restaurant where members socialize regularly.

Another popular golf community in Carmel Valley is Carmel Valley Ranch. “The Ranch,” as locals call it, is a beautiful blend of all the valley has to offer;  a world-class golf course, tennis and pickleball courts, swimming pools, a spa, multiple restaurants, fitness offerings, and most recently a full ranch where you can say hello to horses, goats, sheep, Highland Cows (our favorite!), donkeys, bunnies, and more. Carmel Valley Ranch is a popular place to live for everyone from families to retirees because of the lifestyle offered.

The Quail Lodge and Golf Club is also located in the area and features a challenging golf course surrounded by mostly single-level homes featuring the indoor/outdoor living known in California. The neighborhood of Quail Meadows adjacent to Quail Golf Club is a particularly desirable area in Carmel Valley as it’s just far enough into the valley to get out of the fog yet less than 5 minutes to Carmel-by-the-Sea. A gated community offering security and privacy, the homes in Quail Meadows are on large lots in order to offer the seclusion owners seek.

Halfway between Carmel-by-the-Sea and the Village of Carmel Valley (an 8-minute drive) is what locals call “Mid-Valley.” Here you will find enough of what you need without the need of leaving the valley. The Valley Hills Shopping Center, where we are located, features the iconic Baja Cantina where Thursday nights are reserved for the Hot Rods BBQ. Bear and Flag Deli is the off-shoot of The Meatery bringing all of their culinary delights to the valley. A collection of home stores and personal services are also in the center. A little further down the road beyond Earthbound Farmstead, Folktale Winery, and Grigg’s Nursery, you’ll come to the heart of “Mid-Valley.” The Mid-Valley Shopping Center features a Safeway, a collection of restaurants, Ace Hardware, and a UPS Store. Every Sunday the local farmer’s market brings the community together.

“The Village” of Carmel Valley is home to numerous shops, restaurants, and galleries, but the most popular highlight are Carmel Valley’s wine tasting rooms. Visitors can taste some of the best wines produced in the area at the numerous wine tasting rooms located in the Village. The Wine House, Boekenoogen, Rombi, Joyce, Scratch, Georis, and Massa along with others are all an easy stroll apart. Jerome's Market, a long-standing local institution, offers a wide variety of specialty foods and products. Rustica, a popular restaurant located in the heart of the Village, offers delicious French and Italian cuisine in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Carmel Valley has seen significant growth in recent years due to the pandemic and increased demand for housing in rural areas. Despite this growth, Carmel Valley has maintained its rural charm and relaxed way of life, making it a perfect location for those who want to enjoy a peaceful and tranquil lifestyle while being just minutes away from Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pebble Beach, and Monterey.
